Fun fitness activities for the family
Children are far more responsive to incidental exercise and games than walking on a treadmill! The following activities are fun for the whole family and will also increase everyones fitness levels, says Steve Grant
Try a fun run – Today there are heaps of fun runs and walks in Sydney that are open to the whole family. Blackmores sponsor the Sydney running festival in September with distances ranging from four kilometres upward and another is the local 13 kilometre Pub to Pub from Dee Why to Newport. These events have a great atmosphere that the kids and parents will all enjoy. Visit www.coolrunning.com.au to find out what events are coming up.
Trail walks – There are plenty of trail walks and discovery adventures in our National Parks for the family to enjoy. National Parks have already put in the hard work and created walks, talks and tours that are fun activities for families. Visit www.wildwildworld.com.au set up by the NSW Parks and Wildlife for more information.
Cycling – Cycling is a terrific activity for the whole family, and even babies can come along with the rear seats now available to attach on the back of bikes. We have plenty of bike trails and safe paths on the northern beaches that can be explored. Jump on the internet for your local spots, try www.manlyaustralia.com.au
