"I Love coming home"
Since moving to LA in 2007, Tammin - who rose to fame in Oz playing Dani Sutherland in Home and Away - has nabbed some impressive roles, with her career soaring to new heights.
She starred opposite Miley Cyrus in Hannah Montana, played Jenna Marshall in Pretty Little Liars and dominated scenes in The Young and the Restless. She's currently in post-production of the film she co-wrote with husband Sean McEwan, Whaling, and making the final edits to Aussie Girl, a semi-autobiographical US comedy series.
Tammin also has a clothing line, Stella Phoenix, and a blog, Bottle & Heels, which is a sophisticated look into the world of motherhood, fashion, boutique brands, kids fashion, beauty, and travel.
"Yeah, things are pretty busy at the moment!" she laughs, "But when I come home I try and relax."
The former Ravenswood School for Girls student is currently in Australia as the ambassador for the ABC's Reading Eggs Junior program, which helps kids develop reading skills early on in life - and says it's a hit with her four-year-old daughter, Phoenix.
"We love being a part of it. I really wanted to be involved because it helps kids fall in love with reading at an early age through animation, illustration, pop-up books and fun activities," Tammin explains.
"Our favourites are The Very Hungry Caterpillar and The Giving Tree. I particularly like The Hungry Caterpillar because he eats all the different foods and then turns into a butterfly -it's a good lesson for us all to learn.
"Talking about self-love is a really important message to get out there to other women and girls," she adds. "No one is perfect but you do what you can, buy the best products you can, and hope you're nourishing your body as best you can."
The vegan actress, who won Most Popular New Female Talent Logie in 2001 for her Home and Away stint, hopes to come home for Christmas to hang out in her old stomping ground on the peninsula, and may even try a spot of surfing.
"I've tried it a few times but I'm by no means a professional surfer - but never say never!" she laughs.
"I love coming home because the lifestyle is slower, and with the beach and the greenery, it's very relaxing and makes me feel more grounded.
"I definitely want to spend more time here - especially for Phoenix's sake. I really miss just sitting around with family and friends."
As for the future, Tammin says they'd love more children -"three is a good number" - and is in talks to direct a feature film. Maybe some of it could be filmed on the peninsula?
"Who knows?" she smiles. "It might... it would certainly be nice to come back."
