Gig Buddies Sydney
Collaroy and Cromer
Enjoy a time-friendly monthly commitment and support the social inclusion of someone with a learning disability and/or autism in your area by becoming a Gig Buddy. You’ll be paired up with someone with similar interests to yours and attend a monthly ‘gig’ with them. This can be something as simple as catching up for a coffee, to something as adventurous as rock climbing – it’s entirely up to you and your new buddy! All you will need to provide is a National Police Certificate. No experience is required, and you’ll be fully trained by Gig Buddies. Visit gigbuddiessydney.org/volunteers to learn more and apply!
Spread some holiday cheer
Sydney Children’s Hospital Network
Raise funds for kids in hospice care at Manly’s Bear Cottage this month, by volunteering as little as two hours of your time to wrap presents at Warringah Mall. A Christmas Wrapping Station will open seven days a week, from 5-24 December, where a team of volunteers is required to wrap shoppers’ Christmas gifts in exchange for donations to the hospice. The stall will be COVID-safe, with hand sanitiser, gloves and masks provided to all volunteers. There are no requirements for the role, except if you’re a vulnerable worker, in which case you will need medical clearance. Find out more and apply at www.schn.health.nasw.gov.au/supporters-volunteers!
Vinnies needs you!
St Vincent de Paul Society NSW
Join this household name and self-proclaimed ‘op-shop mecca’ as a volunteer, to support locals experiencing poverty and inequality this Christmas. To be considered for this volunteer position, you must have a National Police Certificate, a working with children check, two current references, and ideally be willing to commit to one shift per week. Full coaching and training will be provided to successful applicants. To apply, visit vinnies.org.au/page/Get_Involved/Become_a_volunteer/.
Make a new friend
Do you like gardening, reading and catching up for coffee? If you answered yes, then this volunteering position could be for you! An elderly lady with these interests is looking for a friend to chat to regularly on either Tuesday or Thursday mornings. Due to COVID-19, the position is initially via phone, and will later transition to in-person. You’ll receive full training for your role, alongside ongoing support from HammondCare. To apply for this position, you will need to be aged between 16 to 79, have a C class driver’s license, a National Police Certificate, current flu vaccination, and submit a personal statement.
