Our local firefighters are in desperate need of volunteers to join the NSW RFS Northern Beaches Catering Brigade. Volunteers will contribute to protecting the Northern Beaches area from bushfire threat by ensuring local firefighters are well nourished and able to perform to the best of their ability. Help the elderly get connected

Volunteers are needed to assist older people in using their new Samsung tablets to connect with family and friends. As part of the MyCH program, volunteers will visit elderly clients in their homes and help them learn to use a modified Samsung tablet that supports simplified versions of everyday services, such as email or Skype. Volunteers will need to visit the older person between one to six times weekly or fortnightly for 1 – 2.5 hours each time until the client feels comfortable using the device. Assist thrifty shoppers for charity

Volunteer as a shop assistant at Mona Vale’s Vinnies shop and help shoppers snatch a bargain while doing your bit for charity. In this role, you will assist with general shop duties, such as offering excellent customer service, stock merchandising, processing new donations and applying pricing and keeping the store neat and tidy. This position is suited to a someone who enjoys working with people, has an interest in fashion and is available long term. A pleasant personality and good communication skills are also a must. Give kids the joy of gardening

Circles of Living is a not-for-profit dedicated to offering children hands-on experiences that educate them on culture, health and community building. The charity is looking for volunteers willing to offer up their gardens once a week for 1.5 hours for parents and young children to come by and spend time in the garden, digging, watering and doing simple art activities. No gardening experience is necessary, just a love of children and nature and free time either on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. All volunteers must have a valid working with children check and will be provided with full training by an experienced facilitator. Use your driving skills for the disadvantaged

This Northern Beaches not-for-profit organisation needs volunteer bus and car drivers to transport disadvantaged community members, including the elderly, frail and those with a disability, to social outings and appointments. Alongside having a clear driving record, prospective volunteers must be knowledgeable of the Northern Beaches local government area. They must be respectful, kind and understanding of issues relevant to people who are transport disadvantaged. All volunteers must have a minimum five years’ driving experience and be available for flexible hours Monday – Saturday. Bus drivers will also need the appropriate level of RMS license. If you love our bushland and/or are a fan of the iconic Skippy the Bush Kangaroo, head to Waratah Park on 8 September and help restore the native landscape. Volunteers can come along any time between 9am and 1pm and meet the group near the Rangers Headquarters, 13 Namba Road, Duffys Forest. All volunteers must wear protective clothing, including a hat and gloves, and morning tea and lunch will be provided.
