With the pandemic still on our minds, Christmas is likely to look a little different this year.

But after the year that was 2020, we could all use some Christmas cheer to remind us of the best things in life – food, fun and family.

In the spirit of the season, we’re gifting you our favourite festive picks for COVID-safe Christmas activities on the North Shore.

Christmas cheer through song

COVID-19 may have seen councils across the North Shore, sadly, forced to pull the plug on popular Christmas carol events, but that doesn’t mean the festive season is cancelled.

Willoughby Symphony Orchestra will be spreading the joy of Christmas through music in a one-hour family-friendly concert at the Concourse on Saturday 5 December.

Audiences will be treated to their favourite Christmas classics, with special guest soloists from the Pacific Opera.

Seating is limited due to physical distancing requirements, so be sure to snap up your tickets quick.

A matinee 4pm session will be followed by a 7pm concert, with adult tickets $53; $49 for concession; and $23 for children.

Visit the Willoughby City Council website for more details.

Santa goes bush

Eager to keep up the tradition of the annual family Santa photo but unsure about social distancing?

Santa in the Garden offers fun, memorable Christmas photos with an Aussie twist.

The Ku-Ring-Gai Wildflower Garden in St Ives is offering a creative take on the stock-standard festive family pic, with families invited to join Santa at his outdoor ‘campsite’.

Take a seat on the log bench, surrounded by stunning natural bushland and quirky bush decorations.

The Jolly Red Man will be sure to entertain the kids while keeping his distance.

Extend your visit by taking a walk through the incredible native garden after your shoot!
Visit the Ku-Ring-Gai Wildflower Garden website for more information.

The ultimate Christmas market

Mosman’s annual Christmas Night Market is back!

While the number of stalls may be reduced due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no shortage of Christmas spirit.

Expect ambient music and a vibrant atmosphere, with carollers and even Santa making an appearance in the past.

Pick up a unique gift or Fair-Trade item, with stalls selling an eclectic array of jewellery, textiles, plants, homewares, fashion, and skincare.

Source gourmet food for Chrissy dinner, and indulge in a few festive treats along the way.

This free market will be held on Thursday 10 December from 4.30pm – 9pm at Mosman Square & Village Green, Spit Junction.
