Interactive reusing and recycling map

Northern Beaches Council has launched a reuse and recycling map to make it easier for locals to find somewhere to drop off unwanted items.

The aim is to avoid throwing items away, where they would end up in a landfill, and encouraging repurposing or recycling.

The app includes a list of clothing bins and op shops for clothes, furniture, and household goods.

Residents, businesses, charities, or groups that accept free drop-offs of materials or items for reuse, resale or recycling are also able to apply to be added to the map.

Northern Beaches Mayor Michael Regan said the interactive map is a great initiative.

“The Northern Beaches’ residents are a very environmentally conscious lot, so this is just another way to ensure unwanted household goods find another home, are up-cycled or recycled, which otherwise would be destined for landfill,” he said.
