Keeping it fresh!
When it comes to a one-stop-shop, Forestway Fresh is in a class of its own.
The family-run business has been keeping the local community in fresh food since 1949 and in its Terry Hills location for 18 years. It is now run by Pasquale and Tony Polistina, the grandsons of its founder, Nonno Pasquale.
The brothers are constantly expanding its offering – including the recently-opened outdoor Tasting Deck – and adding new fresh produce to the shelves. As well as boasting and in-house butcher, who cuts the meat instore, and a pastry chef making fresh cakes to take home every day, Forestway Fresh has a huge array of ready-made meals to take home, including mouth-watering pies, lasagnes, risottos, salads – and seafood, salad, cheese and antipasto platters and canapes.
“You name it, we’ve got it,” laughs Pasquale. “Most of the food produce is Australian and we source a few products from local growers, including herbs from a farmer in Terrey Hills.
“Some is also sourced from Sydney Markets and we try and get there early before everyone else – Tony is often there at 1am talking to agents and suppliers about what’s available.”
The grocer, who recently scooped the 2020 Australian Small Business Champion Awards in the Fresh Food category for the second year running and has received the local Business Greengrocer Award in the Northern Beaches Business Awards, for the last four years running, is also about to start selling boutique liquor this month.
“We’ll be selling gorgeous boutique wine and craft beers straight after Easter,” adds Pasquale. “It’s something we’ve wanted to do for a long time and there will be an aisle dedicated to boutique liquor, including popular locals, European and craft beer.
“We’ve sourced the best of the best from all over the world.”
Although we seem pandemic-free at the moment, Forestway Fresh’s Tasting Deck is COVID safe, with spaced tables and contactless ordering. The catering offering can also be ordered directly from the website via an order form.
