Tee up a round of golf on the Northern Beaches

With golf being one of the few activities we can still enjoy in lockdown, Peninsula Living takes a look at the top five courses to play 18 holes on the Northern Beaches.

Whether you’re an experienced golfer or just looking to get out and about, there’s something for everyone.

Long Reef Golf Club

Offering stunning views, the Long Reef Golf Club features one of the most picturesque courses on the Beaches.

This links-style, par 72 course, caters to golfers of all levels, from first-timers to veterans.

Boasting four different tee positions means that no matter your skill level, you will have a chance to turn in an impressive scorecard on this challenging layout.

If you’re brand new to golf, the club also offers beginners’ clinics to budding golfers of all ages.

Mona Vale Golf Club

Located just 200 metres from Mona Vale Beach, the impressive Mona Vale Golf Club is a favourite of locals.

Ranked as one of Australia’s best courses under $50, this 18-hole, par 72 course, is suitable for pros and hackers alike and offers fantastic value for money.

Mona Vale also offers coaching from their professionals, all of whom are members of the Australian PGA and bring years of experience.

Bayview Golf Club

Also located in Mona Vale, Bayview Golf Club is another great option to enjoy 18 holes of lush fairways and true greens.

The course aims to challenge you with a variety of terrain and unique holes, and you’re sure to rely on every club in the bag.

If you’re new to the course, watch out for hole 7, Bayview’s 375-metre, par 4 dog-leg signature hole. It offers a unique challenge and is a favourite amongst members.

Manly Golf Club

The exclusive Manly Golf Club is without doubt one of the Peninsula’s nicest golf courses.

Don’t just take our word for it - even golfing legends Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman have graced the club’s meticulously manicured fairways.

The architecturally designed 18-hole course - which is ranked in the top 100 in Australia - can be challenging even for the most experienced golfers.

However, for those less experienced, Manly also has exceptional practice facilities.

If you would feel more comfortable learning under the steady hand of a golf pro, book a lesson with one of the club’s coaches to help you fine-tune your game.

Warringah Golf Club

Located in North Manly, Warringah Golf Club is an ideal option for social golfers.

It offers a testing but enjoyable 18 holes, which will only set you back $48.

There are plenty of par 3s and short par 4s that are very accessible to the average golfer, so you may very well walk away with a birdie or two!

They are currently suspended because of COVID restrictions, but the club often runs social events. And for the more competitive players, Warringah also holds frequent competitions.
