The Commission Process

Content

Start the ball rolling

I will contact you within 48 hours after your initial inquiry, to discuss your pet portrait ideas and preference of size, style and background colour. This information is crucial to the commission and will be noted on your no-obligation free quote. Once you have received your free quote you can decide whether to proceed. A 40% deposit is required upon acceptance of commission.

At least one photo of your pet is required (sent to me via post* or email). Ideally the image/s should help show their personality. For example if they are a high-energy pet you could show them at play or with their favourite toy. If they are a placid by nature your photo could show them in their favourite pose.

Any extra photos supplied will be beneficial for reference, especially close-ups of eyes, fur colour and texture. Also any colour swatch reference for background colour, pattern or texture for the portrait. If your photo was taken by a professional photographer you will need to ask for copyright permission.

*All photographs posted to me will be returned to you safely.

The timeline

I endeavour to have a final portrait approved and delivered within two to four weeks. Once a commission has been confirmed I am able to determine the turnaround time to complete a portrait. Current projects underway will govern the exact duration time.

Please understand each portrait is given my full attention until their completion and my priority is to consider all individual requests.

The final leg

Once the portrait is complete I will send you a digital proof. Only if you are happy with this final image and approve it do I ask for final payment prior to delivery.

Copyright

Although I retain full reproduction copyright on each portrait. I will not use an image for cards or art prints without a client’s prior knowledge and understanding.
