In this series of four workshops with artist Evan Salmon, you will learn a variety of pencil drawing techniques, including practical elements of construction such as composition and tonal relationships as well as refined aspects of touch.
Each week you will study and draw from a selection of rarely displayed prints and drawings from the Art Gallery of New South Wales’ collection.
This series is limited to eight people only and is a wonderful opportunity to learn in a small exclusive environment.
You’ll meet in the Members Lounge on lower level 3 of the Art Gallery’s south building, Naala Nura, at 10.15am. At 10.30am, you will move to the study room on lower level 2, where you can view drawings and prints from the Art Gallery’s collection up close and unframed, serving as inspiration for the workshop.
Evan Salmon is an artist with over 30 years of experience, working primarily in the mediums of painting, drawing and printmaking. He was a Sulman Prize finalist in 2006 and won the NSW Parliament Plein Air Painting Prize in 2015 and currently lectures in drawing at the National Art School.
