For the best South East Asian street food in Sydney, there’s no going past Yoda. Located in Avalon on the North Shore, the café/restaurant offers nutritious and delicious food to satisfy your Asian food cravings.
For the vegans and gluten free people out there, enjoy a tasty nasi goreng or treat yourself to a cheeky coconut hot chocolate. If you’re in the mood for something spicier, you can’t go wrong with the lamb vindaloo curry. They’re open all week for lunch and dinner, and on those rainy nights when you can’t leave the house, they even do home deliveries so you can enjoy your food in the comfort of your PJs.
Our restaurant is split - the "front" being street-side with bifold doors opening to the footpath along Old Barrenjoey Road. Tables line either side of the room - half of which are along deep cushioned bench seats - with a couple chucked in the middle for good measure.. Two "high bar" benches are on either side of the front door with stools and standing space on either side for around 4-8 guests.
We regularly host bands in this room, usually duo's playing at the front of the restaurant so guests inside & out can enjoy the music! The rear of this room is capped by our open-air kitchen which hums with smells & sounds throughout the day/night.
"The Lounge" as it's known to be called, is in the rear of the restaurant, behind the kitchen. This is an intimate space that boasts large sky lights, letting in the sunshine during the day. At night, the red walls and candlelight give a sense of calm while room is transformed into a cosy haven for those looking to get away from the hustle & bustle of the outside world.
Regular jazz nights (Thursdays) pack the room out & electrify the space. A must-try for anyone who appreciates good music, book ahead to hear tunes played by some of Sydney's best jazz musicians. An upright piano lends a special touch and genuine sound to a room that's acoustically pleasing to all ears. Bookings essential, more info here.
