CardioMax and BoxKick sessions are held at Beacon Hill reserve which is accessible to residents of the Northern Beaches and North Shore.

CardioMax cardio classes

CardioMax is a fitness program that will help you build maximum fitness and increase endurance.

CardioMax cardio classes involve varied terrain, intervals, games, buddy cardio and cross training.

Equipment may include skipping ropes, hurdles, medicine balls and stairs.

Classes may involve a circuit session in the park, or the group might go for a run.

Running programs

Whether you’re deciding to get fit for the first time or you’re a marathon runner, Step Into Life will help you reach your cardio goals through their running programs.

One of Clare’s members came to her towards the beginning of Step Into Life Beacon Hill and said “I don't run. I don't do push-ups. I don't do squats.

Once she started with Step Into Life Beacon Hill and eased into running and learned how to relax into it, one morning she ran a whole session.

When the group got back to the oval Clare looked at her and said “What was that?”. She replied “I don't know I just like running now”.

From there the previously reluctant runner has started doing park runs. Including 5km events a few times.

“She actually really enjoys to get out and go running now. She also met one of my other members who she didn’t know before Step Into Life, and they enjoy running together."

BoxKick kickboxing workout

Unleash your inner kickboxer through a BoxKick kickboxing workout.

When you come to BoxKick you’ll be doing boxing workouts along with some kickboxing style kicks and a mix of cardio workouts within the session.

If you’ve been searching for boxing trainers who know their stuff, Clare is well qualified to help you learn more about this sport, with her background in martial arts.

“I really do watch the strength that their punches are at, how they’re holding the bags, making sure everything is safe so that they get the best workout out of the session."

You’ll be working with boxing gloves and focus pads as well as large kick pads. You’ll be matched with boxing partners based on height and strength.

One of Clare’s clients in her early 50s was against the idea of giving BoxKick a try when she originally started coming to Step Into Life.

Clare encouraged her to try BoxKick to complement CardioMax sessions.

Combining the two types of exercises are perfect for muscle building and cardiovascular health.

“She absolutely hated her first session of BoxKick.

“But she came to the next one and now she absolutely loves it.

“She hates missing it and she sees it as a really good stress relief. She would rather do a BoxKick session than a CardioMax session."

“When you’re a mum everything else is happening and you don't have time for yourself.

“Step Into Life is a chance for women to get together, and to do something for themselves. It becomes really important for them. I understand that. I've got two kids. You need that time away."

If a member doesn't turn up for a session and she's been to class every single week, when she turns up at the next session, the others will ask where she was and tell her what she missed out on.

“I have members that work out what days both of them will get to training. They've never met before until they came to Step Into Life. And now they've made these friendships."
