When normal feet turn into problem feet, it's best to seek professional help from The Foot Group podiatrists, Brookvale. This may involve biomechanical assessment, footwear advice, prescription of foot orthotics, diabetic foot assessment or foot care.
Do you need Orthotics?
If you suffer from heel pain, ankle pain, shin pain, knee pain, bunions or lower back pain, you may need orthotics. Many foot complaints can be alleviated by wearing an orthotic shoe insert that supports the arches and corrects over-pronation (fallen arches) - one of the major contributing causes of foot and heel pain.
Foot orthotics are specialised inserts which sit in your shoes, under your feet, to support, correct and align all bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and plantar fascia in each of your feet. They are used to improve foot function, support the foot as the foundation for the body and to redistribute weight through the foot and lower limb. The Foot Group, Brookvale, uses two types of foot orthotics, soft and semi-flexible/firm. These may be prescription or customised to your foot.
A podiatrist will only prescribe foot orthotics after a comprehensive biomechanical assessment. A biomechanical assessment involves assessing and measuring different motions of the foot, ankle, leg and lower back to determine whether it functions and moves correctly.
The Foot Group’s podiatrists have built a reputation amongst health professionals as being experts in this field. Their complete biomechanical assessment will help identify the problem and how to manage it most effectively.
Foot problems in adult life can often be prevented through early intervention in childhood.
