Kitchen renovations Northern Beaches - The process of designing a kitchen
As with any other types of renovation jobs, Victoria will visit the site where the planned kitchen renovations are to measure the room and discuss what the client wants.
Victoria will then design the custom kitchen with her 3D computer program for the prospects review.
Once the quote and design is accepted, the next step is to choose the kitchen appliances for the installation.
“The way I operate this business is if they want to buy their appliances themselves they are more than welcome to go and buy them where ever they want.
“If they want me to provide the service where I buy them for them I can do that too.
“So basically however the client wants to do it and whatever input they want from me with their kitchens renovations they can have.
“I don't tell the client that they must buy from me. I give them the option and it's their choice.”
When you're getting your current kitchen renovated, you'll want new major appliances to match.
With a kitchen renovation you'll generally want to get a new oven, cooktop, rangehood, stove, fridge, dishwasher and microwave.
You've also got to select PC items for a kitchen which is the tapware, basins, tiles and things like that.
“I have a number of designers and suppliers my clients can use or they can purchase them elsewhere if they wish.”

Kitchen renovations - The delivery time of kitchen renovations
The delivery time of a kitchen renovation can vary.
Sometimes the job is fairly quick, because the kitchen has to be installed exactly as it previously was.
For example kitchens in units usually need to be installed in the same way.
In a unit quite often the sink has to go where it is. Things can't be moved around a lot in a unit which makes the job simpler.
In a house you can do anything, which can add to the delivery time of the job.
“Kitchens we can put in any position. Basically as long as we can get to plumbing.”
What comes into the design of a kitchen are things like the door finish, the type of cabinets, drawers, handles or no handles, all those types of little details are what make the kitchen what it is.
“As long as the client knows what type of cooking facilities they want to use…
“Do they want a big oven, a small oven, do they want a wall oven. All these things.
“Those are the types of questions I pose to them when I go out on my initial quote.
“I guide them into telling me what I need to know, even if they think they don't know.
“When you ask the correct questions then you find out the information you need.”
When they're happy with what we've spoken about I draw up a 3D design on the computer so they know what the kitchen is going to look like when it's installed.”
The client will be able to see what the cabinets look like and what all the details of the kitchen will look like.
It's like looking a photograph of the finished product.
Victoria emails the 3D pictures through to the client, along with the the quote.
“Once I've done the quote I like to have a discussion with them and make sure everything is fine.
“If major changes are needed the client is then welcome to visit my home office and sit with me, and we make the changes together until they’re happy with the prototype.
“So if the client says ‘What about if we do this?’ I can do it on the computer and show them there and then.”
This is the design process for both kitchen and bathroom.
The client can review the pictures of what it will look like, and they can make changes. Nothing is set in stone.
“The only time it's set in stone is basically once I've ordered cabinetry, then anything they change becomes an extra charge.”
However Victoria tries to get the client to a point where they are completely happy with the design.
She confirms with them that they know what they are getting before moving onto ordering.

Victoria has over 25 years experience in the kitchen renovations and bathroom renovations industry.
“I do everything. I’m more like a personal design consultant as opposed to the traditional showroom businesses where you just walk in and buy a kit.
“I go out and do the measure and quote. I talk about the kitchen or the bathroom and discuss what the prospect might have in mind.
“If they've got something in mind and I can see it's not going to work or there is a better way of doing it, I will tell them.
“I will explain why something won’t work or can’t be installed. I won’t just say ‘You can't have that’. Because I know that goes on in the industry.
“Some places will say ‘No you can't have that’ but they don't explain themselves.”
Sometimes people want everything.
But they’re overcapitalising.
“They don't need it. For example, it’s not imperative to the workings of that specific kitchen or the workings of that specific bathroom to have underfloor heating.”
Victoria says it's all about being able to talk to the client, getting to know them and what they want.
“The biggest thing is to being able to listen to the client.
“Listen to what they would like. And to accommodate as much of their wants and needs and likes as possible.
“And if you see a better way, give them a better option to choose from if it’s available.”
