Operating for more than 20 years at the Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation, Narrabeen Sports and Exercise Medicine Centre works to help all members of the community remain fit and healthy.
Located in Narrabeen on the Northern Beaches covering Manly, Warringah, Pittwater and North Shore areas Narrabeen Sports and Exercise Medicine Centre’s team consist of sports physicians, physiotherapists, podiatrist, a massage therapist, orthopaedic surgeons and a dietitian.
Why sports medicine?
Narrabeen Sports and Exercise Medicine Centre doesn’t just cater for elite athletes - most of the centre’s patients are ordinary members of the community of all ages.
Its focus is on using sports medicine and exercise to improve patients’ fitness so they have the ability to reduce the risk of injury caused by factors such as falling, obesity and diabetes.
The sports medical clinic assesses and treats many types of injuries specific to sports and exercise, such as:

Sports medicine, rehabilitation and advice
As well as an expert team of sports physicians, staff at the privately-operated multi-disciplinary practice include consultant orthopaedic surgeons specialising in surgical management of foot, knee and shoulder and upper limb problems, plus massage therapists and physiotherapists.
A senior podiatrist and a sports dietitian complete the clinic’s team, providing comprehensive services to all patients, whatever their individual needs and activity levels.

All of the physicians at Narrabeen Sports and Exercise Medicine Centre are fellows of the Australasian College of Sports Physicians, the nation’s peak provider of accredited post-graduate training in sports and exercise medicine.
Doctor A Stuart Watson (owner) was a founding medical director of the Australian College of Sports Physicians. He has had 30 years experience developing, implementing & evaluating medical and musculoskeletal screening for sports including volleyball (Australian Mens), soccer, rugby league, ice hockey, swimming (Australian Swimming Team) cricket, netball track and field, rowing and canoeing. Stuart was also appointed to the medical team of the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
Doctor Paul Bloomfield has extensive experience in various sports and clubs including Manly Sea Eagles, Soccer Australia, Northern Spirit Soccer Club, Australian Men’s Volleyball Team as well as Brooks Triathlon and Biggest Loser 2009. He has a special interest in all lower limb injuries including knees and ankles.
Doctor Tony Delaney was principle of the Charlottes Pass Medical Centre for 18 years. Has extensive experience in skiing bio-mechanics and injuries as well as exercise induced asthma. He is consultant to the Australian Defense Forces.
Doctor Karen Soo has been involved in caring for Australian athletes at Melbourne Commonwealth Games, international soccer tournaments and representative rugby league, rugby union and AFL teams. She is currently club doctor for Warringah Rugby Club and NSW Squash.
Dr Louise Tulloh is a fellow of the Australasian College of Sports Physicians, having been awarding the college medal (for highest achievement in the fellowship exam) in 1999. Louise has particular interest in medical concerns of the female athlete (hormonal changes, nutritional deficiency, absent periods and stress fractures).
Ray Harding - Treating athletes of all ability, both professional and recreational, Ray also enjoys helping children with growing problems and those associated with sporting activities, not to mention the aging community with the increasing demand they place on community services in their bid to remain healthy and fit.
Paediatric Rehabilitation Specialist
Dr Louise Tofts is a Paediatric Rehabilitation specialist with an interest in working with children and adolescents who find it hard to participate sport and exercise to ensure they access the positive benefits safely. Rehabilitation care involves working with the child’s family, school and community providers including sports clubs to ensure inclusion, appropriate adaptations and safe access to activities. Care will be provided by a team of health professionals and directed towards goals agreed with the child and family.
Tina Falco is a fully accredited member of Australian Traditional Medicine Society and operates by their professional strict Code of Ethics.
Doctor Justin Roe specializes in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the knee. His special interest is surgery for knee instability, malalignment and arthritis.
Doctor David Carmody main interest is conditions of the foot, ankle and knee. His fellowship training had an emphasis on arthroscopic techniques for treating arthritis and sports injuries. He also has expertise in fracture management of the foot and ankle. He can provide an expert opinion on conditions affecting the foot, ankle and knee including sports injuries, arthritis, instability, malalignment and tendon and cartilage problems
Doctor Matthew Sherlock is an expert in shoulder and elbow surgery. He has a particular interest in sports injuries, arthroscopic and joint replacement surgery of the shoulder.
Dr William L. Walter has been involved in over 2000 hip and knee replacements. Dr Walter is able to provide an expert opinion to patients with hip and knee problems, from those with arthritic joints requiring straightforward replacement to patients with complex anatomical joint problems.
Jennie Lane who consults to Manly Sea Eagles and NSW Institute of Sport (Netball), and is actively involved in promoting healthy eating in schools & the elderly.
Water exercises and rehabilitation can be especially useful for older patients and Masters athletes looking to supplement their training with low-impact exercise, as it carries minimal risk of musculoskeletal injury.
