Ekphrastic fantastic with Red Room Poetry

Go beyond the frame as some of our leading poets read works created in response to art, and renowned artists read poems of their own or ones that have inspired them.

This special Art After Hours event will premiere two new ‘ekphrastic’ commissions – a term for when one art form speaks to another art form. Acclaimed author and musician Nardi Simpson and award-winning poet Eunice Andrada will both perform pieces written in response to works from the Art Gallery of New South Wales collection.

Featuring Eunice Andrada, Nardi Simpson, Barrina South, Emily Stewart, Omar Sakr, Safdar Ahmed, Richard Tipping, Salote Tawale and Claudia Nicholson, and hosted by Red Room Poetry’s Nicole Smede.

This event is presented in partnership with Red Room Poetry as part of Poetry Month.

We will begin at the Entrance Pavilion then proceed to the Atrium on lower level two.
