Night of the Shining Masks
Step into a poetic world where silence has a voice and traditional Korean masks come alive under the moonlight.
Night of the Shining Masks is a moving and visually stunning original musical that weaves fantasy, memory, and identity into one unforgettable story. Set in a quiet mask workshop, a reclusive mask artisan and her daughter discover that the masks they create awaken each night—each carrying stories of forgotten voices, untold pain, and dreams once buried.
Blending traditional Korean rhythms with modern musical storytelling, the show features powerful choral numbers, haunting solos, and dynamic ensemble choreography. Through the magical lens of Korea’s rich mask culture, the musical explores themes of trauma, intergenerational silence, disability, and quiet resilience.
Created by EU Theatre, Night of the Shining Masks is written and directed by Hae-Yun Kang, a Korean-Australian theatre artist who brings both heritage and innovation to the stage.
Don’t miss this magical journey of emotion, tradition, and the power of voiceless stories.
