It was mid-November in 1903 when a small group of Mosman gents made their way down a little dirt track, to a patch of unloved, scrubby bushland overlooking sparkling Sydney Harbour.
In front of them was a deep, neglected hole in the ground; an ugly cavern gouged into the earth by workers who had robbed it of all the stone they wanted and left.
It was the perfect place for a new bowling club to be known as Warringah.
The old quarry site on Bradleys Head Rd was quickly transformed into one of Sydney’s most spectacular sporting and social facilities, first opening to the public on December 3, 1904.
Now, more than a century later, Warringah Bowling Club is still going strong.
We welcome you to our special place filled with charm and character, a local haven where the old proudly meets the new. A club for competition or social bowls, where you can enjoy great food, a quiet drink, live music and sensational surrounds – right in the heart of Mosman.
